The Lady Pirates are looking foward to an exciting 2010 season. The look will be a little different this year. There is a good mixture of pitching with several pitchers who have different go to pitches and a variety of speeds. The team speed is greater than usual which will add to a change in offensive opportunities. There will still be power in the line up. The defense is not going to be flashy, but seems to be able to get the job done. With the largest team roster thus far, there should be a lot of changing players in and out to focus on each player's strong point.

Coaches are looking for pitching strength from Casey Burns (Hooper Academy) and Christina Nolin (Eufaula High). Heather Hudgens (Robert E Lee) will fit into the pitching mix as she finished the 2009 season with very effective outings on the mound. Elizabeth Esparza (Los Altos High) is looking a lot stronger this year. Esparza joined the team last year after a layoff between high school and college to get married to one of our country's finest (an American Soldier). More pitching help will come from Haleigh Peterson (Smith's Station) who spent the fall recovering from shoulder (glove arm) surgery and Camie Fripp (Schley County) who has stepped up this year and moved from full time pitching to catching. Also expect pitching performances from Kristy Lambeth (Robert E Lee)and Kelley Walls (Springwood Academy). And there is still Carla Smith (Ranburne High) and Britt Wilkerson (Glenwood) available if needed.

At the catching position, Cami Fripp (Schely County) has shown that she can play anywhere on a softball field. Fripp who pitched and played a number of infield positions last year has commited to the catching duties this year. Fripp looks like she has been playing catcher all of her life. Also working with the catching duries are Tori Walls (Beulah) and Jordan Wheeler (Russell County).
